The single strand of wire connected to what looks like the spur on a cow boy's boot is the new high tensile wire. The high tensile wire is extremely strong, very durable, and is much cheaper than the poly wire we currently use. This new wire should help us reduce our costs.
With our new boar we will be able to breed our own piglets right on the farm. Our boar is a certified 100% Berkshire. Here is some history about the Berkshire hogs, " Three hundred years ago – so legend has it – the Berkshire hog was discovered by Oliver Cromwell’s army, while in winter quarters at Reading, the county seat of the shire of Berks in England. After the war, these veterans carried the news of the wonderful hogs of Berks to the outside world; larger than any other swine of that time and producing hams and bacon of rare quality and flavor."
