Some feilds dont have access to a waterline so until we get a water line installed the water tanks have to be filled manually.
The cattle are soo used to being moved they walk up to the gate to the next patch of grass and wait. Some are not so patient and can moo soo loud that if standing close the vibrations can shake your body. Not the most pleasant experience. If they are moved often enough they are actually very quite.
Our portable corrals can be pushed and pulled into different shapes. We shape the corral into a lane after the steer is inside which helps the steer to walk on the trailer calmly.
I recently have tried a new cattle loading system that came to me in a dream. Well not actually. I was still awake. None the less. In this method we build the coral around the steer right in the field among the herd. The steer keeps eating away and has no behavior change. The only thing I do is open the gate to the trailer and he walks on him self. As far as trailer loading goes It really doesn't get more stress free then this. Minimal stress handling is good for the animals, good for the farmer, and good for the quality of the meat.
