A  Day on Vitality Pastures

9/3/2012

Today we expanded some of the paths around the exterior fence to allow vehicles to drive around the farm. We would like to be able to have guided tours where we can drive around the entire farm and be able to see all of the animals.
We also started setting up the last semi permanent fence. So the cattle will have two more paddocks to graze before starting them over in the paddocks they first started in.
The last batch of broiler chickens will be moved out to pasture in a few days depending on the weather.
Only one bag of hog feed left and the feed store is closed! We will try for tomorrow.

Finally some one down here is doing the right thing. I want to come check out your farm ASAP and get some real pork. What breeds are you raising? Are your meat birds Cornish X?

Hi Danny,
Thanks for commenting. Our pork breeds range from Yorkshire, Berkshire, Duroc, Hampshire, and Red Wattle.
Our meat chickens are Cornish X. Next season we plan to experiment with some different breeds possibly the French Freedom Ranger

Thanks.

Aww Michael,T

The chicken was delicious! I first notice the quality and texture of the chicken while cutting it up. Saying to myself, if the chicken taste as good as the cutting was we can't wait to eat it! We decided to bake it on our electric grill on our deck since it was a beautiful day, and avoid the heat indoors. We season with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. Well Michael we were not disappointed, and had not tasted chicken like this since my grandparents farm raised chickens back in the late sixties. We will never buy another store bought chicken again. I am so glad we found your farm and meeting you. Looking forward to trying the meats and pork.
We would like to take a Tour of the farm you had mention. Do we need to make an appointment?

My Best,
Pacita
